Hey everyone,

I made a promise to myself when I reentered the world of food writing that I would focus on the positive and shy away from the negative. What does it profit a Substack newsletter writer to go around bashing mom-and-pop diners or lemonade stands from Girl Scouts trying to raise money for charity? (Not that I’ve ever done that.)

But then you go to a shiny new restaurant in your neighborhood and have a bad enough experience that you think: well what’s a Substack newsletter for if not to rant a little?
