Hey everyone,
The first time that I heard the expression “in the weeds” when I was a waiter at Murphy’s in the Virginia Highlands in Atlanta. (Yes, I was once a waiter! Though Craig teases me that I only lasted a few weeks.) My mentor, a server whose name I think was Sage (this was almost twenty years ago), said she was “in the weeds” when I asked for some help during a Sunday brunch and I was like, “Oh that’s restaurant speak for ‘I’m very busy!’” I think I figured things out on my own.
Well I mention all this because I’m about to be in the weeds in a major way: not only are we flying to New York next week to find our apartment (good luck to us), I’m also relaunching my podcast!
All of this came about because I was walking Winston past our local bakery and a fan approached me (I’m very famous!) and said how much she loved my podcast, especially the first version, Lunch Therapy. And I tried to think back to why I changed it from Lunch Therapy to The Amateur Gourmet Podcast and then to You’ve Got to Taste This, and I think A—>B had something to do with trying to create an exclusive new podcast for Substack? And B—>C was because I thought that the new one needed more of a hook/theme? But my original hook/theme was so good, so why not go back to it? So that’s what I’m doing!
I’ve already recorded a few interviews with some awesome guests, so tune in this Monday. Best to subscribe now so you don’t miss it! (And catch up on the archives.)
Now let’s talk about that wedge salad….
