Gale Gand's Thirty-Minute Apple Crumb Cake
Plus: Fried Risotto Patties, The Best Breakfast Sandwich of My Life, and Dinner at La Vara.
Hey friends,
Have you ever encountered a recipe so good, so smart, and so fast, that you want to tattoo it on to your body so you’ll always have it near you? That’s how I feel about Gale Gand’s apple crumb cake. Not only is it so easy, it’s so rewarding. In one bowl, you mix together dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, etc), then in that same bowl you add an egg, melted butter, and some milk, and once that’s all worked together, you fold in two chopped apples. Into a greased 8X8 pan it goes, and then the best part: you top it all with a quick crumble topping made by pinching together cold butter, sugar, flour, and more cinnamon. It bakes for 25 - 30 minutes at 400 and that’s it!
This cake works for both dessert AND breakfast and makes your house / apartment / living quarters smell so good. Here’s the recipe as a PDF so you can print it and make it for yourself or your family this weekend…
