This Red Lentil Soup with Harissa Will Wake Up Your Face on a Rainy Day
Plus: A Printable Cavatappi Recipe, Lemon Meringue Art, and Plant-Based Bacon.
Hey everyone!
I’ve been blogging like crazy this week. Am I making up for four years of not blogging? Maybe. I think I just like having a repository for all of the recipes that I Instagram and Tweet and TikTok about. It’s like the very thing that led me to start a blog nineteen years ago (documenting my food adventures for others to be inspired) is what’s leading me back to it all these years later.
For example: this Red Lentil Soup with Harissa and Lime.
It’s such a smart recipe — it comes from a brand new cookbook called The Mediterranean Dish by Suzy Karadsheh — and it starts simply enough, with carrots, onions, celery, garlic, coriander, cumin, and turmeric. You add your rinsed red lentils, some vegetable stock (boxed is fine), and thirty minutes later you have a very nice soup.
But then things get sexy and exciting when you transform the soup, Olivia Newton-John at the end of Grease style, by stirring in harissa, lime juice, and cilantro. And that takes things to a whole new level.

Hey, you know how I’m constantly making Cavatappi with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Cannellini Beans?
It’s definitely the recipe that I’ve made the most over the past twenty years. It’s what Craig requests first when he comes home from a trip, it’s what I whip up when it’s raining and I don’t feel like going to the grocery store. I’ve made it for family, I’ve made it for friends, I’ve made it for visiting dignitaries… including Jordan Peele, Jordan’s mom, and Chelsea Peretti!
Here’s a TikTok/Instagram Reel I made this week of the process:
More importantly, this week, I finally made the recipe PRINTABLE.
So CLICK HERE and check out the instructions so you can finally make Cavatappi with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Cannellini Beans for you and yours.
Now let’s look at some art….
