We Got into Noma!
Plus: Our 18th Anniversary Dinner at Roman's, Eclipse on the Roof, and Lots of Links.
Hey everyone,
I still remember when I applied early decision to Columbia back in 1997. I was delusional to think I’d get in (I didn’t have the SAT scores or the GPA), but for some reason I put all of my eggs into that basket and I still remember sitting with my mom when the time came to call to get the results and she said “what’s meant to be is meant to be” and then they said, “You didn’t get in, please stop bothering us.”
If I only knew then that three decades later I’d get a reservation at one of the world’s most celebrated restaurants, it might’ve mitigated the damage. But it’s true, yesterday morning I woke up to the exciting news that somebody cancelled we were being bumped off the wait list.
My first reaction was joy. My second reaction was fear. We’re going for the ocean menu, and from what I can see online one of the dishes is… fish eyeball pie??!?! What have I gotten us into? And is Craig going to freak out when he’s presented with sea cucumber penis? (I just made that one up, though it could actually be a dish.)
This all happens next week when we’re in Copenhagen. Speaking of which, I’m taking next week off, but I’ll be taking tons of pictures and I’ll tell you all about my adventures when I get back that next week. (I’ll also be posting on Instagram, if you want to follow along while it’s all happening.)
In the meantime, let me tell you about our 18th anniversary dinner at Roman’s.
