i'm not much for carrot cake but dang that one looks so good i might change my mind.

tipping has definitely become a fraught experience - it's one thing to tip 20% or more at a sit down restaurant, and of course i'll throw five bucks to anyone who delivers me food. (grubhub can forget about suggesting 20% though - whether i order $10 or $70 worth of food the service is identical.) you know what's expected of you, so it is what it is. but what about everything else? why should i tip at the bubble tea place and the local ice cream place, but not mcdonalds or popeyes? why tip my stylist, but not the garbage men? what about the person bagging my groceries? there's no rhyme or reason to it. i unwittingly pulled into a full service gas station one day and panicked when he handed me the receipt - should i be tipping him? having movers in my home was the worst, i had no idea how much i should tip, and whether i should be giving cash to each person, or just trust one guy would split it among them, etc.

i feel like now it's a dick move to not tip, and if i was wealthy i would be that person who tips generously and wherever i go but...i'm not. everyone's asking for more money for more things...but we're not making any more money to account for this, even prior to what's happening in grocery stores & gas stations. i've even started seeing a place for tips when checking out online. (not food or delivery services, i'm talking soap or candles or whatever.) i guess people feel like, hey, why miss out on some extra cash if people want to tip? and i get that, but it definitely puts the average customer in an awkward position.

Fits our family's style of cooking perfectly. Profoundly good but put together by cooks who like the process.

Regarding the NYT article on intermittent fasting - you're missing the point by saying intermittent fasting is pointless. Time-restricted dieting produced the same weight loss as dieting without time restrictions so they are equivalent approaches - but who wants to eat less all day? It may be easier for some people to eat less by eating in a defined window.

Intermittent fasting always sounds to me like a re-framing of disordered eating.
