Thank you for a wonderful and exciting post! All the deliciousness from Kachka! And the Russian Black Bread! I, too, was very moved by the NYT mini-documentary about Sally Schmidt and the beautiful, busy, purposeful yet simple life she led. I immediately ordered her book, and am so glad I did. I have to ask about that focaccia! It looks like focaccia shaped like a round challah? Is that right? Gorgeous!

Is the gjnger apple cake the same as the recipe on the NYT site? It says it’s a Karen Bates recipe, looks like this might be it?
