I’m in my late 50s and have had a dream to live anywhere on the east coast preferably NY my entire adult like! I’d give up Cali in a heartbeat if my husband was on board and my children weren’t here! So good for you! Life goes by to quickly not t live where your heart is!

How exciting. I am a tad bit jealous you are moving to NYC! I've been trying to convince my spouse to move there for the past 10 years. I find I always weigh less after I've spent time in NYC. I think it's all the walking and taking subways instead of driving everywhere. I hope you find the home of your dreams. Wishing you much happiness and a smooth relocation.

I've been reading you since 2008 so it is nice to see the full circle. I'm glad you and Craig have decided to make the trek back East and to NYC. There's home and then there is home. Good luck with the move and....open arms to old comforts and new adventures!

I had to look back in my inbox to see how long I’ve subscribed to your blog because it seems like not that long ago you moved to LA. Turns out I’ve been subscribed since 2010 & you really have lived there a long time! Excited for your trip back to NY and cannot wait to read about your East Coast adventures πŸŽπŸ—½

best of luck with the search and then the move! i think the big question is, how does winston feel about cold weather? ;)

the new yorker humor piece was so funny, and spot on - that is how i felt watching all the friends i'd made in college in boston immediately go to one place or the other after graduation, and back again. me, i stayed in boston. what can i say, i'm a homebody and i don't like to travel. even boston has felt for a few years now "too far" from my real home, rhode island. i think rhode islanders are born with some kind of homing device gene - most of us never leave and if we do, we always come back. or so it seems.

despite my distaste for travel i've been to NY several times, and i made it to LA exactly once, when my cousin got married ages ago. being on the west coast for the first (and only) time was enlightening - i thought wow, ok, i get why people move out here. i can't say the same about NYC, although i always had a good time.

Do you know which neighborhood you’ll be looking at? I know last time you lived here it was the west village.
