Mexico City - Auna, Malix, Azul Historico, Comedor Jacinta. If you have time, the early morning canal tour with Arca Tierra is excellent, and Aura Cocina has great cooking classes in English. Oaxaca - Pitiona, Las Quince Letras (several types of mole and good, traditional Oaxacan cuisine). Culinary Backstreets has a very good food tour of Oaxaca. Los Danzantes has restaurants in both cities - the one in Mexico City is in the lovely Coyocan neighborhood.
Everything about this meal is calling to me!! I love that big smile and the candle in the pie. My dad's birthday often lands on Thanksgiving, so pie was always his cake.
Oaxaca is absolutely a paradise for foodies!!! Eat ANYWHERE and you get amazingly delicious food that is cooked and prepared with love. I’m sure you’ve seen all the recommendations for best restaurants but I’d like to highlight Boulenc for lunch: a special cozy place with a very casual vibe that has the best sourdough bread!
When you go, don’t miss visiting the Botanical Garden! It’s so unique: everything there is indigenous to Oaxaca! Check schedule because you can only visit by joining a tour guide, English available. Buen viaje!
MeroToro. Surf & turf. One of our favorites--the restaurant opens up on the the tropical jungle of Calle Amsterdam---it is magical & feels very exotic looking out into the trees from open restaurant. I love it.
I’ve been to many places in New Hampshire, but this one is truly something special. The setting is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere is so inviting. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The food was exquisite—every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. I had the salmon, which was perfectly cooked, and the sides were just as good. The desserts were the highlight of the evening. I tried the cheesecake, and it was rich, creamy, and the perfect way to end the meal. What impressed me the most was the impeccable service. The staff was so attentive and made sure everything was perfect. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re miles away from the everyday hustle. If you’re looking for somewhere to unwind and enjoy an unforgettable meal, this is the place to be. Find out more here: https://www.bedfordvillageinn.com/
As always, smashing newsletter! I I often read parts (or all of it) out loud to my teenager. She could read it herself of course but I love to read bits out and then discuss. We agree apple pie is not easy but always worth it. I read, Alison Roman I think, that pies always take longer to bake than you think. That’s helped me with my baking. Be patient! I once cooked an apple pie in our bbq because our oven died and it was the best one I’ve ever made. That restaurant looks so good - please fly me to New York. Have fun on your trip!

Happy birthday to Chris! Your apple pie looks *outstanding,* Adam. As does that apple sundae!
For Mexico City, if you have time, a tasting menu lunch at Quintonil would be an exceptional addition to your agenda! https://quintonil.com/en/home-3/
