OMG I cannot believe you got to meet Tony Kushner - let alone spend an evening with him and eat food that he cooked. I literally gasped when I read the email subject line. What a life highlight! I don't know you but I am genuinely experiencing a vicarious thrill at this experience. <3

oh, also? just catching up on all the good links - you can pry my gas stove from cold dead hands XD i use the open flame to roast chiles all the time, and you can not get into the nooks and crannies of a pepper with a flat surface like a cast iron pan. owning our own home is probably a pipe dream, but i often go on zillow anyway and notice most houses (even here in the northeast) have electric stoves which would be a dealbreaker for me. all the stovetop accidents i have had or witnessed have been with electric stoves, albeit coil ones.

Just wanted to tell you how much I loved your podcast with Dan Pelosi. I may not be a gay man, but having grown up in a Cuban household, I heard a lot of the same things. So much of what you and Dan talked about resonated so much with me too.

We had 35 oysters on our last trip to Mac's Shack—one for each year of marriage. We usually pursue this tradition at Mac's on Shankpainter in P-Town, but it's closed on Tuesday's.

such lovely pics of everybody! ah, to be a person whose cuteness is not affected by rain nor wind.

did you manage to come after the epic heatwave? my brain can't fathom wearing long sleeves or a coat in august here...but then again i'm a new englander and not from LA ;) i love fried clams with bellies, but they're not for everyone. they also have clam strips (sans bellies). i could truly eat my weight in any kind of clams. CLAMS! it's genetic.

the corn ice cream with blueberry cobbler sounds amazing. glad you had a wonderful time despite the sewer-mergency! wild.

What a lovely weekend. Enjoyed some time out and about yesterday and can totally understand the freeing feeling of enjoying time with friends and others without the feeling of the plague hanging over our interactions with others
