My parents are in town and we’re all going to a Mother’s Day brunch in my mom’s hotel (her pick!). But I’m curious about those of you cooking for your moms this weekend! What are you making? Or, if you’re a mom, what are you letting others cook for you? As a dog mom, I’m hoping Winston makes me a steak.
My mom loves scones - not too sweet, the dryer the better with fillings of just fruit and maybe nuts, so that is what I shall make. Last year I made the orange currant scones for the Zuni cafe cookbook and they were delicious. This year I will make the oatmeal scones from Marion Cunningham’s Breakfast Book. I’ll bring them over to enjoy with her morning coffee on Sunday.
We are first going to one of my favorite nursery to pick out plants and herbs (need a new bay leaf plant. I instructed my son in-law to check out specials at CentrtMarket (Austin) for extra dishes). I bring Ina Garten’s chocolate cake which comes via GoldBelly. I fortunately like to plan these events.
Dog mom, too! I'm sure Nigel and Ludwig will each guilt me into giving them a taste of ricotta as I make ricotta toast and Carla Lalli Music's brothy basil beans on Sunday.
Grilled butterflied leg of lamb, potato chips made with duck fat, cranberry-pine nut wild rice!
We are having a hot dog party over here :) Ice cream sammies for dessert.
My mom requested pulled pork, so that's what she shall have!
Eggs Benedict using Kenji Lopez-Alt’s foolproof immersion blender Hollandaise sauce recipe.

spanakopita, egg frittata, hash browns, bacon, bagels, fresh smoked trout and salmon, whitefish salad
As a Mom, I hope the only thing I'll be making is reservations!
I’m making my Mom wood fired pizza in our backyard pizza oven. Dessert is an orange olive oil cake.
Making a roast turkey breast with vegetables similar to your roast chicken recipe! Cooking on Saturday so I can relax on Sunday, too!
