Oh no! My daughter gave me her starter because she was tired of making bread and well I never made bread either. That starter looked like the one in your photo and my husband made me toss it because it grossed him out every time he opened the fridge. Which admittedly isn't that often since he doesn't cook. Sigh.
I do love me some crackers! Have you tried any Danish or Scandinavian seed crackers? I brought some back from Denmark and they are remarkable...lots of recipes on the internet. They are especially nice with cured salmon and halibut that is surprisingly easy to make.
Have you made Winston dog biscuits? I make these for Coco my 17 year old spry little ShiTzu Havanese cross and she loves them. I modified the recipe using almond flour and adding 2 tbsp peanut butter. I refrigerate the dough for an hour or so to absorb the liquids. It is easily rolled out between 2 sheets of parchment. Hope you get a chance to try them.
That is what my sourdough starter looks like. Left it in the back of the fridge, took a look at it, saw the black liquid and made a mental note to discard. haven't done that and I'm glad to have read this post!
